Fast Moving Filament
Doppler Shift Study
18 May 2010
Left image was taken at 18th of May 2010 at 11:35 U.T. with a Ha' P.S.T. and a DMK21AU04AS (mono) and a 2.5x Barlow.
In the image you can see a huge filament that came from the East limb were the previous days were many low prominences in complex groups. At the time of the observation we tryied to see if there is any strong Doppler movement in the filament and record the velocity of that movement.
At this time there was not detected that kind of movement, we recorded the the filament only at 6562.8 Angstrem (-,+ 0.5 Angstrem). This means that there is some movent at some parts of the filament but not bigger than (-,+) 5km/sec.

Next day, at 19th of May we did the same again to see if there is any change to that. The change to that was great, we detected parts of the filament almost 3 Angstrem away showing that parts of the filament had a speed of almost 120km/sec.
In the folowing images you can see how the filament looked like at the different wavelenghts and parts of the Ha' line.

Negative and Zero speed parts of the filament
Here you can see a combination of images showing in false colour what parts of the filament were moving with negative speed, combined with the zero speed image of the centeral region of the Ha' line.
Zero and Positive speed parts of the filament
Here you can see a combination of images showing in false colour what parts of the filament were moving with positive speed, combined with the zero speed image of the centeral region of the Ha' line.
